Music Teacher

Department: Academics
Location: Canadian School of Tashkent (CST), Tashkent, Uzbekistan
Employment Type: Full-time, Monday–Friday, 08:00–17:00
Reports To: Vice Principal / Nova Scotia Program Principal
Salary: Competitive, according to the CST salary grid

Position Summary

The Canadian School of Tashkent (CST) is seeking a passionate, creative, and dedicated Music Teacher to join our academic team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and inclusive music lessons that encourage students to develop their musical knowledge, performance skills, creativity, and appreciation of music. Instruction is conducted in English and follows CST’s Canadian-aligned curriculum for Grades 4–9.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons in music theory, performance, music appreciation, and practical musicianship.
  • Develop students’ musical knowledge, creativity, confidence, and performance skills.
  • Encourage collaboration, self-expression, and active participation in classroom and extracurricular music activities.
  • Organize, coordinate, and support school concerts, performances, assemblies, and other musical events.
  • Prepare students for individual and group performances.
  • Assess student learning and progress and maintain accurate academic records.
  • Provide constructive feedback and appropriate support to students.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other members of the academic team on interdisciplinary and school-wide initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development of the school’s music and performing arts programs.
  • Participate in professional development activities and other duties related to the role as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Music, Performing Arts, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of teaching experience in music education.
  • Strong musical knowledge and practical musicianship skills.
  • Experience teaching students at the middle/secondary school level is an advantage.
  • Strong classroom management and student engagement skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural and international school environment.
  • Creativity, enthusiasm, flexibility, and a genuine passion for music education.
