Hello.
My name is Olzhas.
I started my career path as an ACS system engineer in 2014, but after working in this field for about three years, I decided that I wanted to develop in a different sphere.
The area of my further professional development and growth became the Supply Chain.
In 2017, I came to San Mir Astana LLP where I began to study and understand what Foreign Economic Activity is, what logistics is and everything related to it. My main responsibilities were - searching for suppliers around the world, obtaining all technical documentation, concluding contracts, searching for transport and organising pick-up, working with customs agents, preparing and providing all shipping documents for customs clearance. Organisation acceptance in warehouses by quality and quantity, transfer of original documents for the Financial department for registration to government agencies. I would like to dwell in a little more detail on working with customs agents and customs clearance: in order to avoid any difficulties during customs clearance, the documents were checked by me in advance and agreed upon with the brokers, if any government permits/conclusions were necessary then all this was submitted in advance to government agencies and agreed upon.
After two years spent at San Mir Astana" LLP, in April 2019 I got a job at Elektrovoz Kurastyru Zauyty LLP (Alstom JV) Supply Chain department where I currently work.
The first step in my career at Elektrovoz Kurastyru Zauyty LLP (Alstom JV) was the position of Material Planner (scope: electrical materials), there were 22 suppliers with 26 supply contracts where the total number of materials was 280. The main responsibilities were - updating and ensuring the correctness of material parameters in the system, sending delivery plans and purchase orders to suppliers, receiving dates from suppliers, monitoring the timely execution of dates, full follow-up document flow with suppliers, analyzing the root causes of critical materials and determining action plans for them as to avoid future criticality. I would also like to note the implementation of the “APSYS cross-functional team” system in the operational work of the Procurement, Quality and Material Planning teams.
The second step in my career at Elektrovoz Kurastyru Zauyty LLP (Alstom JV) was my promotion in June 2020 as a Lead Material Planner (scope: metallic parts), there were 4 suppliers with 5 supply contracts where the total the number of materials was 3500. The main responsibilities were - organisation the work of the scope, clearing and setting up the system in (COVID time), 4 direct reports. Also including responsibilities as Material Planner, me as Lead Material Planner needed to lead scope's APSYS, train and support on adaptation of new employees, as well as take part in interviews with candidates.
The next step in my career at Elektrovoz Kurastyru Zauyty LLP (Alstom JV) was my promotion in June 2022 as Material Planning Manager, 22 direct reports. The main responsibilities were - managing the team and its key indicators, writing processes and procedures, as well as adapting current processes and procedures to the team, presenting and defending the team’s key indicators to management (cost of inventory, percentage of critical parts, correctness of material parameters in the system, warehouse coverage in weeks, critical suppliers and action plan), interaction with key stakeholders to address and mitigate possible future risks. It was also my important responsibility as a manager to prioritise other departments within their operational activities for needs of the Material Planning team to avoid negative consequences.
The fourth and current step of my career at Elektrovoz Kurastyru Zauyty LLP (Alstom JV) was my horizontal promotion in February 2023 as a Project Supply Chain Leader - direct report to the Supply Chain department and functional report to the Project Management department. The main task is to achieve key indicators of the project management department within the Supply Chain department. To accomplish these tasks, my main responsibilities are - analysis of inventory coverage, coordination of the Supply Chain department when critical supply problems arise with suppliers, participation in the validation of S&OP and production plan, determination of strategy for suppliers/countries in conjunction with the Procurement department to optimise costs for materials and logistics (including determining application ranks for transitions between suppliers/countries), reviewing and managing the transport budget with the logistics team.
Summarising my experience in the Supply Chain department of Elektrovoz Kurastyru Zauyty LLP (Alstom JV), I would like to note my knowledge of Supply Chain techniques such as correct planning of materials including/relative to all parameters (safety stock, all kinds of lead times, batch size, economic order quantity), understanding and designating the necessary deadlines for stakeholders to ensure timely receipt of parts on time in production, understanding the full/life production cycle and takt time.
To successfully complete my tasks, I use: Microsoft Office package (especially Excel - pivot tables, charts, functions and formulas), SAP, Power BI.
Among my personal qualities, I would like to note: like to teach, train and study with a team, cross functional cooperation, data analysis, flexibility, attentiveness and accuracy to details. Strong analytical, problem solving and organisational skills.
